Transition Coaching
Combining your current success with our 25 years of experience to help you achieve your career goals.

We customize our advice to each coaching client's unique situation. We do not do the clients' work for them. We help them help themselves. We provide a savvy sounding board not available anywhere else. It is secure, confidential and comfortable. It allows the client to articulate career options perhaps not yet shared with anyone else. The point is to allow the client to think outside the box and "test drive" ideas without the risk of embarrassment. After this effort, the client is in a position to make superior decisions about what to do based on what he or she truly wants to do.

Participation in the Transition Coaching program does not preclude the client from being a possible candidate on an executive search. If the client becomes a participant in one of our searches, the transition program is formally suspended and the relationship with Mitroff Consulting focuses exclusively on the search.

We identify what it takes to assess each opportunity and position the client to stand out optimally from others wanting the same opportunity. Additionally, we are prepared to guide our coaching client during their first few months in the new opportunity to maximize his or her initial success.

   Background Information

Norm Mitroff has over 25 years of experience working with executives and top management teams in a broad array of industries. He has executed hundreds of top-level senior executive searches. Norm has worked closely with thousands of executives over the course of his career. Norm knows how CEO's and hiring executives think and can meaningfully coach senior-level executives to greater success as they pursue new career goals. These executives are either contemplating leaving their current positions or have done so in recent months.

   The Transition Coaching Curriculum

The program is designed around a 2 to 4 month curriculum that consists of weekly consultations focused on specific topics. The coaching work is performed by telephone so the geographic location of the coaching client is not an issue.

Three phases of the coaching program are designed to build upon one another:

  1. Setting the Stage
  2. Transition Hurdles
  3. Personalized Action Plan
Setting the Stage
A concise internal analysis designed to focus on further developing your career upon the foundation you established.
Steps: Analysis of your professional and personal accomplishments to date, with special emphasis on how these define your future aspirations and goals. Examination of your short and long term transition goals and how they converge. This involves much more than just contemplating another job.

Benefits:
A clearer understanding of how you want to reach the next phase of your career. Dynamic feedback pertaining to your aspirations. Establishing a set of goals to pursue when seeking your next position.
Transition Hurdles
Gain insight into negotiating the transition challenges that arise as you define what to do next.
Steps: Examine issues that traditionally arise when you are pursuing your next position, as well as when you are in place. “Branding” your image, highlighting the relevance of your background, and “data mining” your existing contacts to maximize their value will be a few of the techniques discussed.
Benefits: Enhance your ability to think and present yourself as the veteran executive you are. Maximize the number of opportunities you will consider. Position yourself for the ones you want most. Confirm that your expectations fit those of the people with whom you will work. Enhance the likelihood of taking a successful next step, rather than a misstep.
Transition Action Plan
Connect your goals and ambitions with an action plan that will be a path to your ideal position.
Steps: Integrate your goals with the knowledge gained in the Transition Hurdles phase to form a comprehensive plan to survey the market and win the opportunity that is right for you. Walk through the mechanics of attaining your ideal position. Prepare for being offered the position you want.
Benefits: An experience-based strategy tailored to your search for an ideal position, centered around your career growth goals. Most importantly, you will be clearly focused and primed to seek and close on your ideal opportunity.

Please Note:  Participation in the Transition Coaching program does not preclude the coaching client from being a possible candidate on an executive search.  If the coaching client becomes a participant in one of our searches, the transition program is formally suspended and the relationship with Mitroff Consulting focuses on the executive search.
